Path to a majority

Each of FIDE's member federations casts one vote by secret ballot; a ticket wins with a majority of votes cast. Counts below are federations logged as "Endorsed" here, against the territories this tracker covers — an approximation of FIDE's actual membership, not an official count.

Who has endorsed whom

Every shaded country is a FIDE-eligible territory. Grey means silent — no public endorsement, decline, or comment has been reported yet. A few non-members (e.g. Benin, North Korea, Greenland) are shown in a lighter neutral shade for geographic context — hover for the name, but they aren't part of the vote and aren't tracked in the ledger below.

Federation ledger

All federations, tracked by name. FIDE does not publish a live master list of nominating or endorsing federations, so this reflects only what has surfaced in press coverage plus anything logged in the admin panel — it is likely incomplete and will lag real coalition-building. The small tag next to each status marks how solid the sourcing is: Confirmed means an official letter or a citable primary source backs it; Reported means it's relayed by the tracker maintainer without a citable public source yet.

The three tickets

FIDE's Electoral Commission confirmed three valid presidential tickets after the 26 July 2026 nomination deadline. Each ticket needed backing from 5–8 member federations spanning all four continental zones to qualify.

Methodology

This is an independently maintained tracker, not an official FIDE publication. It is manually curated from public reporting and admin-panel entries. FIDE elections move on federation politics that plays out privately as well as publicly — endorsement counts here almost certainly lag real coalition-building, and tickets may add, lose, or reshuffle running mates before 26 September. Verify anything decision-critical against fide.com and the outlets in the news feed above. The map covers the 204 territories on FIDE's own 2026 General Assembly membership list (202 voting federations plus 2 suspended — Russia and Rwanda). World map: assembled from world-map-data by Stephan Wagner, MIT License — the United Kingdom is split into its three FIDE home-nation federations (England, Scotland, Wales); Northern Ireland is not a separate FIDE federation and is covered by Ireland's shape.
